New York City Chinese Dance Company (NYCCDC)
As a subsidiary of Quadrant International Arts Association 501(c)(3) (QIAA), primarily presents Chinese classical dance and Chinese ethnic folk dance.
NYCCDC creates original works and revive classic dance repertoires, helping the various communities of New York deepen their appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture. We provide program support to communities, businesses, individuals, and other cultural institutions as well, collaborating on performances, classes, and workshops to share traditional Chinese arts. NYCCDC actively participates in performances throughout New York, bringing the rhythms of China to communities large and small.

Content
NYCCDC has established a main dance troupe and a sub-group, catering to Chinese dance enthusiasts with or without prior dance experience. The company provides systematic and professional training for all members, offering various performance opportunities and platforms for artistic exchange. Additionally, NYCCDC organizes public training sessions for the community and actively promotes Chinese dance and traditional culture in the New York area.

Education
At NYCCDC, we are committed to making Chinese dance education accessible and engaging for diverse audiences. In addition to offering Chinese dance classes in mandarin for the local Chinese community in New York, we are developing English-based programs designed to align with Western art education systems. These programs creatively integrate elements from modern dance, African dance, hip-hop, and other styles to enrich the learning experience and broaden the appeal of Chinese dance.

Whisperer
Whisperer is an original ethnic fusion dance by NYCCDC.
The work was selected as one of the 10 selected works for the Choreography Lab at Steps on Broadway in 2024, and it is also the only Chinese work selected.
The premiere took place at the Making Moves Dance Festival at the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, where it was the only Chinese work among the 9 selected pieces in 2024
“Whisperer" is inspired by the rich cultural heritage of China's Dai ethnic minority and rooted in the Dai belief in the animistic essence of all existence, where myriad natural spirits bestow blessings upon humanity. Infused with elements from various Chinese ethnic minority dances—such as the Dai, Miao, and Wa. It likes a whisperer between humans and nature, this dance celebrates the harmony and becomes a sacred communion between humanity and the natural world.

采薇 Cai Wei
Cai Wei is a traditional Chinese dance excerpted from the renowned dance drama Confucius, inspired by one of the most poetic verses in The Book of Songs. Known as one of the most beautiful dances in the production, it embodies grace, serenity, and profound historical depth, creating a mesmerizing visual and emotional experience.
NYCCDC has restaged this work and has been invited by the China Institute in America to perform it at the 2025 Lunar New Year celebration.

百花争妍 Blooming Flowers
Blooming Flowers is a renowned Chinese classical dance piece infused with elements of Sichuan Opera. NYCCDC has restaged this classic piece and presented it at the Indiana State Chinese New Year Gala.
The dance portrays the imagery of flowers blooming in full splendor. Dancers showcase elegance and fluidity through Sichuan Opera water sleeve techniques and refined Chinese classical dance movements. This piece embodies cultural depth and creates a mesmerizing visual feast rooted in Eastern aesthetics.

水姑娘 Water Girls, Miao Dance
Water Girls is a classic traditional Miao ethnic dance, rich in cultural heritage. NYCCDC has restaged this piece and performed it at the World’s Fare at Indiana Memorial Union.
This piece preserves the distinctive movement vocabulary of Miao dance while vividly expressing deep love for water and homeland. It inherits the cultural aesthetic essence of traditional Miao dance while resonating with contemporary artistic tastes, reflecting a modern interpretation of nature and dance.
